It’s all change at Caravan.
That’s the festival all done and dusted. PHEW! Whatamonth. Thank you to everyone for coming in for a visit and liking us on facebooks and following us on the twitter and the blog. It was a mental first month, but it’s over now and we can get back on track, focus on the future and get doing our favourite thing… Planning stuff. We’ve got lots of ideas and lots of events up our sleeves so we’ll keep you all posted.
We’re hard AT IT trying to get the gallery/shop all ship shape and fancy for all our wonderful customers. We’re a busy bunch though, we’ve got one member of Team Caravan moving house and the other two are currently chocked up with the cold and trying to find a new place to live! We’ll be back on track ASAP though, we’re hoping this Saturday our walls and drawers will be filled with fantastic art and design works. Meaning there will be another arty party in the next few weeks. So keeps your eyes peeled. We’re also going to start using this blog a log properly and give you lot a visual feast on a more daily basis… So watch it!

THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS
Wow!
What a busy first week we’ve had! First of all, if you’ve been to visit us during the last couple of days: Thanks! It’s been great to meet so many new people and have so many visitors to our humble space.
We’ve had lots of interesting stuff in the shop, as well as the top art on the walls.
There was Garrett T. Morgan playing us some Nashville-influenced tunes and enjoying a nice warm can of McEwans Export:
Then we did a LIVE PRINT SHOW in our window space. These little chaps and some others like them are now available to purchase too, from £5. Bargain!
And most recently, we’ve had special guest appearances from Drawabout and their mad mobile life-drawing mobs!

They should be dropping in most days at around 5pm and there’s talk of a special event with them next week, so stay tuned!
Over the next few days we should be introducing some smaller items of stock like more little prints, badges and other ‘wee things’, so come and see if there’s anything you’d like!

His performance certainly brightened up a rainy Sunday evening and we hope to have some more small musical events going on in the shop in the near future.

OPEN!
And we are go for Caravan!
As of Saturday morning, Caravan on Lady Lawson Street is officially open for business!
We’ve kicked off proceedings with an excellent show of great new work by designers and artists working in Scotland. We’ve got people exhibiting from Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh…many of whom you may already have seen on this blog!
A big thank you to all those who joined us for some self-exploding champagne and warm beer on our opening evening. It was great to finally meet so many people and we all hope you enjoyed yourself.
There will be more photos up soon of some recent events we’ve had in the meantime so keep checking back here.
And tell all your friends! There’s a new gallery in town folks!

SNEAKY PREVIEW…
Well, here we are, sitting in the shop the day before we open.
After much trouble with some exceedingly sticky window vinyls, we’ve managed to reach a fairly satisfactory state of affairs.
All the work is hung and we’re very happy with how it looks. A few wee bits to do tomorrow (which is actually today now, sorry) and we’ll be perfectly ready!

We’re all front!
Shop front that is!
This is our freshly painted shop, all ready for Friday’s (7pm, be there or be square!) big launch.
Thanks to a combination of our own effort and that of several sturdy menfolk (our fathers), we’re now pretty much ready to hang the show all in good time.
Keep your eyes on this blog for some sneak previews tomorrow, I expect!
ALSO! We’re still looking for a solo ukulele-wielder who wouldn’t mind providing some musical accompaniment on Friday in return for beer/wine and all the good favour in the world. So if you know anyone, give them/us a shout.
